McDonalds Double Choco Frappe

Since it's 12-12-12 today, I decided to try something different and make it somehow memorable. I originally planned to buy myself a Milk Tea for the first time ever, but did not push through since I was kinda tired that night to go to Happy Lemon.

Background: My first milk tea experience was quite horrible. I was forced to drink my sister's milk tea (Sweet Surrender) during her birthday treat at Hainanese Delights SM Megamall since she did not like it. I expected that I won't like it too, but was not expecting the taste to be almost unbearable (for me at least). But I thought that I'll give it another try since I did not mix the milk tea that time and may have sipped the pure tea part. I also didn't like the flavor (strawberry and rose syrup).

Enter the McDonald's Double Choco Frappe! Php 120.00 Medium, Php 130.00 Large size.

McDonalds Double Choco Frappe
The frappe was made upon order not like those pre-made drinks. If my memory serves me right, I saw the McCafe lady use the ff. ingredients while preparing it.
- ice
- chocolate flavor base (syrup)
- milk
- whip cream
- chocolate syrup
- chocolate powder

As expected from a chocolate milkshake junkie, I was in Cloud9-mode upon sipping my drink. But after finishing the whole thing, I kinda felt guilty when I thought of the amount of calories I've just taken.. ^___^'

On Manny Pacquiao's KO Loss to JM Marquez

Just some personal thoughts and response on issues regarding MP's shocking loss to JMM.

Some say that the K.O. blow was a lucky punch.
- I believe that the finishing punch of JMM is not a lucky punch but a legitimate one. Even after watching the replay video of the last round for the first time, I thought Manny turned down his guard at that crucial moment because his hands were not raised to protect his head. It was just too low. JMM being an excellent counter-puncher (quick eyes, quick response) saw this and took the opportunity. Unfortunately, the punch connected straight to the nose of our beloved champion.

Some say that he was cheated. JMM stepped on his foot before delivering the KO punch.
- If you will watch the video again, you will see that the KO punch connected because of lack of defense (both of Manny's hands were down). Even MP himself said that he became overconfident in that round after knocking out and seemingly wearing down JMM (there were blood in the face of JMM after the fight). Even if ever JMM did not step on Manny's foot at that moment, I believe the KO punch would still connect.

Some (especially his mother) say that his loss was because of his change of religious beliefs.

http://ph.news.yahoo.com/boxing--pacquiao-ko-leads-to--religious--debate-040856623.html
- Since Manny Pacquiao became a born-again Christian, we can see from a career perspective that he became less dominant compared to his previous fights. His last 3 fights were somehow not up to the usual Mannny Pacquiao standard where he will win via KO, TKO if not in a unanimous decision. Was it because he left his old religion (Roman Catholic)? Was it because he was not praying to the rosary and idols anymore? What many cannot see is that even though Manny started losing in his fights since becoming a (real) Christian, he started winning in the fights of life - the fights that matter most. He won against the fight of gambling, womanizing, drinking, smoking and other vices. He won back his wife and united his family as stronger as ever, I believe... and the most glorious of all is that, he won Christ! He had a relationship, an encounter with the living God that changed his life forever.

A 'boxer's' faith in God is not measured by the fights he win. You simply have to look at his life and see if it testifies the faith he professes.

"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but rubbish, that I may win Christ."
- Philippians 3:8

Congratulations MP and JMM!

McDo Tip #1: On Cheeseburger-Chicken Fillet Meal

When I eat at McDonalds, I usually buy a cheeseburger meal and chicken fillet with rice. Since I got used to buying the Php 75.00 cheeseburger value meal before, I order my order in this order.

- Cheeseburger Value Meal (w/ Reg. Fries, Reg. Coke) = Php 75.00
- Chicken Fillet w/ Rice Ala-carte = Php 47.00
- Total: Php 122.00

Fortunately, one evening last month when I'm at Mcdonalds to eat, the line was somehow long and I got a chance to re-read their menu..... I found out that I was ordering my order in the wrong order. Here's how it should be:

- Chicken Fillet w/ Rice Value Meal = Php 50.00
- Cheeseburger Ala-carte = Php 39.00
- Regular Fries Ala-carte = Php 27.00
- Total: Php 116.00!

The exact same order, order it in a different order, then you get a Php 6.00 difference.

That's it! 'Till next McDo tip. Happy eating and happy saving! ;)

I did like the food very much (Grilled Black Pepper Chicken, Lamb something...). I'll never hesitate to come back and dine here again. :) My only gripe is that the cake base is kinda dry? Did not expect that given its price.. but the cake's tasty enough though :D  Good thing it's free this time. lol.
